About Us
- Sarita the Mermaid, Author -
Hard to say exactly how old Sarita is. We all know mermaids don’t like you to ask their age!
She does claim to be the Sous Chef at the last supper! We’ll get back to that menu later! This has not been confirmed!

Sarita mostly discusses her time serving her namesake, a 55ft US Navy transport boat built in 1919. For 102 years Sarita has watched over this magical vessel. Always making sure all onboard are safe and thriving. Sarita claims to have brought this boat to the bottom of the sea in order to deliver supplies to The New School of Fish. The human saw this differently! All is as it should be now!
Sarita has fascinating stories, she is a delight to spend time with.

Sarita’s talents are many. Painting her experiences on canvas. She is also a bit of a comic. Dancing! I was a bit surprised at this since she has a tail and no legs. She does admit Cha Cha is a bit challenging!
Sarita’s networking skills are top notch. She has brought human and sea creatures together for greater causes. There are many.
- Susann Edmonds, Girl Friday -
Susann Edmonds is Sarita’s right hand gal, known in legendary times as a Girl Friday. Her foremost qualification is having legs,
which mermaids do not! But there are other important attributes that make Susann the clear choice to tell this story.
First, she stands watch onboard Sarita’s namesake boat, a 55 ft. transit built for the United States Navy in 1919 and used to carry
190 sailors from ships to shore. Her seaworthiness extends from the 4 ½ years she served in the US Navy to being crowned the
Pirate Queen of the Annual Pasadena Doo Dah Parade.
From adventurer to artist, trained dancer to master gardener, it’s no wonder that the nature-loving Susann has always had an affinity
for animals and the earth on which they live. The span between lifestyle and career, interest and ideology, has been a continual bridge
of inspiration. Having a deep appreciation for the beautiful soul of art, she both created her own and brokered the internationally
acclaimed works of others. While wearing a multitude of hats in life, she even created her own line of designer hats.
Susann and Sarita see life through the same lens. This is why Sarita chose Susann as her Girl Friday!

Light Bringer Project is a nonprofit, Pasadena-based arts organization founded in 1990 by residents who were exploring the historic contributions that artists, architects and craftsmen made to the local environ-ment. Inspired by these achievements, its founders imagined ways to bring more of today’s artists and their creative resources into the mainstream of com-munity life. Today, the organization is widely known for its arts and educational programs provided to underserved youth in the greater Pasadena and Los Angeles area.
